About The Midnight Shuffle

The Midnight Shuffle is Australia’s destination for offline poker and luxury dining. Within The Cinder Room’s cinematic card room, we blend a high-end restaurant lounge, intimate poker tables and a craft speakeasy bar into one cohesive experience. Every table is designed for tactile, face-to-face gameplay with live dealers, physical cards and real chip stacks.

Our focus is on atmosphere and authenticity. Expect emerald poker felts, deep charcoal tones, soft pendant lighting and the savoury aroma of dry-aged steaks drifting from the open grill. Whether you are locked into a deep stack Texas Hold'em tournament or simply unwinding with friends over cocktails, the venue is curated for social connection, slow-burn tension and meticulous hospitality.

Because we are a social card room, all events are structured around tournament chips, leaderboard prestige and chip leader glory rather than real-money outcomes. This allows guests to savour the strategy and theatre of live poker in a refined, responsible setting.

Poker Formats & Tournament Structure

The Midnight Shuffle is devoted to offline poker, with every hand dealt by professional, accredited dealers on custom-built poker tables. Our tournament roster is anchored around No-Limit Texas Hold'em tournaments, complemented by rotating Pot-Limit Omaha nights, deep stack series and themed bounty events.

Each tournament is clearly structured with a published blind structure, starting chip stacks and level timings so you always know how the evening will flow. We favour 20–30 minute blind levels for main events to allow for deep, process-driven decision making and meaningful post-flop play. Shorter, high-energy formats feature slightly quicker levels for a sharper, cinematic pace.

All buy-ins are expressed in points or tournament chips and are registered at the podium before you take your seat. Players are allocated a precise stack of ceramic chips that represent their entry into that specific event and leaderboard standings, creating a fair, transparent and social environment.

Texas Hold'em spotlight nights

Feature No-Limit Texas Hold'em main events with deep starting chip stacks, balanced blind structures and a focus on classic offline tournament strategy.

Pot-Limit Omaha & mixed formats

Pot-Limit Omaha evenings and mixed-format schedules keep the card room dynamic for experienced players seeking fresh structures and varied chip-flow patterns.

Bounty & themed events

Occasional bounty and special-guest events introduce creative chip leader incentives and table dynamics while maintaining a social, respectful offline environment.

The Buy-In, Chip Stack & Blind Structure

To preserve both integrity and comfort, every tournament at The Midnight Shuffle is run using tournament chips only. When you register for an event, your buy-in is recorded in points or chips and translated into a defined starting stack for that tournament. From there, every decision you make is expressed through chip stacks, blind pressure and position rather than monetary stakes.

Typical main events feature generous starting chip stacks designed for deep play. Blind levels escalate on a steady, pre-announced clock, with clear display boards around the room showcasing the current level, blinds, antes and remaining time. Our dealers manage chip races, consolidations and breaks to ensure the structure remains balanced and enjoyable.

At the conclusion of each event, podium positions and chip leaders receive recognition through leaderboard points, trophy presentations and seasonal rankings, reinforcing the social and competitive nature of the club.

Example event Starting stack Level length Structure style
The Deep Stack Classic 30,000–40,000 tournament chips 25–30 minutes per level Slow, strategic blind increases for deep-play Texas Hold'em
Midweek Omaha Showdown 25,000 tournament chips 20 minutes per level Pot-Limit Omaha with dynamic yet controlled blind structure
High Roller Invitational Enhanced chip stacks 30 minutes per level Curated blind levels and custom pacing for invited groups

Dining Without the Cards

The Midnight Shuffle is as much an elevated restaurant as it is a boutique card room. Many guests join us purely for the culinary experience, moving between the grill, speakeasy bar and lounge seating without ever taking a seat at a poker table. You are welcome to enjoy the venue entirely as a dining destination.

Our kitchen highlights premium Australian produce with a focus on dry-aged wagyu steaks, charcuterie boards, gourmet sliders and refined small plates that sit comfortably alongside an evening of conversation. A sommelier-curated wine list and craft cocktail program emphasise smoky, stirred and spirit-forward serves that complement the dark-noir setting.

Should you choose to combine dinner with a tournament, tableside service ensures your meals and drinks arrive seamlessly between hands. Otherwise, you can relax in the dedicated dining lounge and watch the card room from a distance while enjoying a slower pace.

Beginner Friendly & Poker Guidance

The Midnight Shuffle is designed to welcome both seasoned tournament regulars and guests who are brand new to offline poker. If you have only played casually with friends or online, our team will help you transition to the rhythm of a live card room.

Dealer-guided tables and select beginner-friendly events feature slower explanations of hand rankings, betting rounds, chip stack management and basic Texas Hold'em tournament strategy. Before cards are pitched, the dealer will walk the table through the blind structure, table etiquette and how to ask for clarification without disrupting play.

We encourage questions and foster a calm, respectful atmosphere where learning is part of the experience. Many guests choose to warm up with a social, guidance-focused event before stepping into deeper structures or Pot-Limit Omaha nights.

Private Table & High Roller Suite Bookings

For groups, corporate teams and serious poker enthusiasts, The Midnight Shuffle offers private card suites and high roller lounge experiences. These secluded spaces combine bespoke tournament design, dedicated dealer teams and fully tailored dining to match the tone of your occasion.

Our events team works with you to choose your preferred format — from No-Limit Texas Hold'em tournaments to Pot-Limit Omaha or mixed games — then crafts blind structures, starting chip stacks and timeframes to match your group’s appetite for play. Seasonal grill menus can be paired with degustation-style service, shared feasting boards or canapés designed for easy enjoyment between hands.

Discreet service, cinematic lighting and premium audio ensure your group occupies its own world within the broader venue, with all the advantages of a professional card room and a top-tier restaurant rolled into a single evening.

Age Restrictions & Dress Code

The Midnight Shuffle operates as an adults-only hospitality and social card club in accordance with Australian regulations. All guests must be 18 years of age or older to enter the venue, participate in offline poker tournaments or dine within the lounge, grill or high roller areas. Valid photo identification may be requested at the door or upon registration.

To maintain the venue’s cinematic, luxury aesthetic, we operate a smart casual dress code. Collared shirts, tailored trousers, refined denim and elevated evening wear are welcomed; sportswear, beach attire and overly distressed clothing may be declined at the discretion of the host team.

Guests are encouraged to treat the venue as they would a premium inner-city restaurant and cocktail bar: polished, comfortable and occasion-ready without the need for formalwear.

House Rules & Poker Etiquette

Our house rules are designed to protect the integrity of offline poker, the comfort of all guests and the professionalism of our dealers. While full card room rules are available on-site, the guidelines below capture the spirit of how we expect our poker tables to operate.

  • No mobile phones, headphones or recording devices may be used on the table surface during active hands.
  • Respectful behaviour is mandatory; abuse, intimidation or disruptive commentary towards players or dealers is not tolerated.
  • Act in turn, protect your cards and keep your chip stacks visible and neatly arranged.
  • Verbal declarations are binding; unclear or misleading statements are discouraged.
  • Table talk regarding live hands must be kept appropriate, especially when other players remain in the pot.
  • Decisions made by the floor or tournament director are final and are made in the interest of fairness.

If you are new to live card rooms, our dealers and floor team will happily clarify any rules before a tournament or during breaks to ensure everyone feels confident and informed.

Responsible Play & Club Compliance

The Midnight Shuffle operates as a licensed hospitality venue and social card room. All poker activities use tournament chips and structured buy-ins expressed in points or chips. There is no real-money wagering or monetary payout associated with our tournaments or events.

Our aim is to provide a balanced blend of competition and camaraderie. Leaderboard points, chip leader accolades and curated seasonal rankings emphasise performance, discipline and strategic play rather than financial outcomes. We actively encourage guests to treat tournaments as part of a broader night out that includes dining, conversation and time away from the tables.

Our team is trained to maintain a secure, respectful and inclusive atmosphere. Guests who appear distressed or unable to enjoy the experience in a healthy way are offered support, and participation is always voluntary and at your own comfort level.
